CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: THE CHAIRMAN APOLOGIED FOR THE LATE ARRIVAL OF THE HANDBOOKS.

REPORT CARDS ARE IN PLENTIFUL SUPPLY.  PLEASE ADJUST THE DATE.

THERE WILL BE TWO DIVISIONS OF EIGHT TEAMS WELCOMING A NEW YOUNG LYE TEAM PLUS THE RETURN OF ALVELEY AND ENVILLE. THE LOSSES ARE JARI, OLD LYE AND THREE CROWNS

THE FIXTURES HAVE BEEN CIRCULATED AND THE GROUND LIMITATIONS ADDRESSED WITH TEAMS OFFERED A REVERSAL OF THE FIXTURES OR OFFER AN ALTERNATIVE VENUE.

AS WELL AS THE HANDBOOK TEAMS WILL BE OFFERED A COPY OF THE FULL LEAGUES RULES REWRITTEN TO ACCOMMODATE THE NEW LAWS (2017 CODE) AS THEY AFFECT THIS LEAGUE.
A SET WILL ALSO BE SUPPLIED TO THE UMPIRES FOR THEIR CONSUMPTION.

LEAGUE AND CUP GAMES ARE CONFINED TO WEDNESDAYS WITH THE FINALS AT CHESTER ROAD ON THE ALLOTTED AVAILABLE DATES CONFIRMED IN THE HANDBOOK

THERE IS ONE GUEST TEAM IN THE 10×10 AS LAST YEAR I.E. WORCESTER POLICE

RESULTS REPORTING IS AS LAST YEAR WITH BOTH TEAMS TEXTING TONY THE RESULT ON THE NIGHT AND THEN COMPLETING THE PLAY CRICKET ENTRY. ANY PROBLEMS PLEASE CONTACT MARK OR CHRIS

WHENEVER POSSIBLE TRY OUT THE HIGH VISIBILITY BALLS (BUT NOT WHITE).

UMPIRES: GEOFF REPORTED THE BELATED LOSS OF 4 UMPIRES AND ISSUED AN UPDATED LIST FOR ALL TEAMS REMINDING TEAMS THAT IT IS THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THE UMPIRE ALLOTTED TO THEIR GAME SHOULD THEIR GAME BE CALLED OFF OR VENUE CHANGED. ONLY CALL GEOFF AS A LAST RESORT.

FINANCE: WE HAVE RECEIVED OUR SPONSORSHIP FOR 2018 WITH CURRENT AND DEPOSIT BOTH AROUND £1800 RESPECTIVELY.

THE TREASURER HOPES THAT HE WILL BE ABLE TO BALANCE THE BOOKS THIS YEAR

THERE WAS A PRESENTATION FROM MANN BROADBENT INSURANCE OUTLINING THE INSURANCE POLICY COVER THEY OFFERED.  THE DETAIL DETERMINES THE COSTS WHICH ARE PARTICULAR TO INDIVIDUAL TEAMS’ REQUIREMENTS.  THIS LEAGUE REQUIRES EACH OF THE MEMBER TEAMS TO BE ADEQUATELY INSURED

DENNIS PYKE FROM WACO THEN PRESENTED A DETAILED INTERPRETATION OF THE NEW LAWS OF CRICKET. THE MAIN POINTS AS FOLLOWS:-

 

CAPTAINS RESPONSIBILITY IS EMMENSE

  1. THE BAT SIZE RULES DO NOT APPLY TO US AS YET
  2. HANDLING THE BALL HAS GONE BUT REPLACED BY OBSTRUCTING THE FIELDER
  3. YOU CAN BE CAUGHT OUT IF THE BALL IS CAUGHT OFF A FIELDERS HELMET OR LODGED IN THE GRILL OF A FIELDERS HELMET OR STUMPED IF THE BALL HITS THE WICKET VIA THE KEEPERS HELMET OR RUN OUT VIA A FIELDERS HELMET SHOULD THE BATSMAN BE OUT OF HIS GROUND
  4. IF A BALL BOUNCES TWICE IT IS A NO BALL
  5. UNDER ARM BOWLING: NO BALL
  6. FIELDER ABSENCE NEEDS COMMON SENSE BUT OFF FOR FIVE, THEN SERVES 5 WAITING
  7. YOU ARE ALLOWED A SUBSTITUTE WICKET KEEPER
