Committee Meeting February 2019

Committee Meeting February 2019

Wilden Cricket Club – 4th FEBRUARY 2019 at 8 pm

APOLOGIES Tony Wrench                                                            PRESENT Nic, Howard, Geoff, Mark, Chris

This meeting has been brought forward to address the pressing need to rearrange the fixtures following the unexpected exodus of Waterfront and the arrival of Three Crowns. The committee welcomed input, prior to the meeting, from Mark and Chris focusing upon the website, handbook and fixtures.

There is little change to the handbook (head high rule and contact details) which will be addressed in the near future. The handbooks to be distributed at the March meeting.

The League accepted the resignation of Waterfront and approved the application of Three Crowns.  The re-written fixtures were presented, checked and approved.  Due to certain restrictions, ground availability, ground share etc., there are two or three instances of “doubled booked” grounds which could not be resolved. In such cases the teams concerned are requested to make their own arrangements to address this issue. The Leagues are of 7 (Premier) and 9 (Division A) necessitating BYES each week, but both are balanced fixtures with each team playing each other twice, once home and once away.

The full fixture list will be circulated shortly. Aziz will put fixture on the Playcricket site.

KDCUA Cup and Plate events we seek teams who wish to partake in this ten ten making their own mutually agreed arrangements playing the first round on or before 09/07/2019 and the next round before 06/08/2019 with the final at Chester Road on 21/8/2019

The pink balls for finals have been ordered

There was concern re ten ten selected bowler(s) rule for teams deficient of players and the ill feeling this has created in the past. It was decided that in such cases where a team was short of players, the additional over bowler(s) shall be nominated at the toss.  This would allow the nominated bowler to bowl his allotted overs at any point in the innings.

Waterfront’s late withdrawal attracts a fine of £100. However, Asaf has expressed his willingness to continue supporting the League with sponsorship. There may be room for negotiation over payment of this fine with additional sponsorship one possible option.

Finance:  Wilden have now paid their League fee for 2019. We have paid £90 to WCB for 9 special affiliations.  Three Crowns replace Wyre Foresters on the list as Wyre Foresters have joined the Saturday Worcester Cricket League so are already affiliated.
Current account £1000.56,           Deposit £1868.56

DBS: Andy Wheeler, WCB Welfare Officer, has agreed to help the League with DBS certification.  He will attend the March meeting giving a brief overview of Welfare and Safe Hands policies. He will also sign off any outstanding DBS requirements for member. A number of clubs have responded positively to the need for all captains and vice captains to have a cricket DBS check.  Mark is to follow up the remainder seeking the data required to prepare for the March Meeting.

Geoff has signed up for the February Safeguarding course
