Wilden League Revised Fixtures and Information

Wilden League Revised Fixtures and Information

The Wilden Industrial Estates Cricket League is pleased to announce the return of recreational cricket as of 15th July.

We hope to update our pages on Playcricket and on this website with the new fixtures in the very near future.
In the meantime you can download revised fixtures here.

LEAGUE GAMES
With 3 divisions of 5 it means each club will play 4 games in 5 weeks.
One club in each division will have a bye each week.
We have proposed that the teams in Div A and B that have a bye can play a friendly that week.
Teams in the Premier division that have a bye are on standby/available to play if one of the other teams do not wish to.

FRIENDLY GAMES
Friendly games are listed at the bottom of the fixtures sheet with (alternative free clubs that week also listed).
Clubs involved in friendly games should contact each other to confirm their wish to play.
Clubs should bear in mind any difference in ability level and remember it is a friendly fixture with the aim of enjoying a game of cricket.
The League will appoint an umpire unless otherwise asked not to.

CUP GAMES
It is not possible to play our usual Senior and Junior Cups due to lack of time remaining in the season.
However,  August 19th and 26th could be used for 10×10 style games, starting at 6.00 pm.
Clubs interested in participating should contact the chairman ASAP.

PINK BALLS
The League ordered a supply of pink balls before lockdown but they are yet to arrive.
Apologies to clubs who have ordered balls.
For this year, please use whatever you have available.

CLUBS & GROUNDS
We will update our club contacts pages as soon as possible.
In the meantime you can download a pdf list of updated contacts and grounds from here.
Changes from last year are:
  • Wilden Village CC have moved to Walshes Meadow and will be known as Stourport San Marino.
  • Gas will play home games at Wilden Village CC.
  • Arley are renamed Alveley “B” and will play home games at Alveley CC.
  • Horn & Trumpet will play home games at Bewdley CC.
  • The Dog have changed their name to the Watermill.
  • Oldswinford CC have joined the league and will play home games at Albemarle Road, Stourbridge.
UMPIRES
There will be less umpires available due to many of them falling into the “at risk” catagory.
We hope to be able to appoint at least one umpire per game.
You will be informed of umpire appointments each week.

RULE CHANGES
Handbooks were ready to be printed before lockdown but the order was cancelled and we do NOT intend to issue handbooks this year.
We will use last years rules apart from:
  • ALL GAMES will have a fielding circle.
  • Umpires fees are now £15 per umpire per game or £22 for one umpire (£11 per team).
RESULTS
We will update the Playcricket website as soon as possible so that you can report results in the usual way.
In the meantime please report all results on the night to Tony Wrench on 07726 007321
